How Asphalt Paving Corvallis Works

Asphalt Paving Corvallis paves and repairs asphalt driveways, parking lots and private roads in Corvallis and the surrounding mid-Willamette Valley towns. We also sealcoat, crack seal, patch, overlay and stripe existing pavement.

Paving here is shaped by water. Corvallis averages about 43 inches of precipitation a year, most of it from November through March, and many valley-terrace soils hold that water for months. Asphalt does not fail from the top down; it fails when the base underneath gets soft. So the most important parts of our work are the ones you never see after the job: digging out unsuitable soil, building a deep, compacted rock base, and giving water a way off and away from the pavement.

How we work

  • We look at the site in person, measure it, and check how water moves across it before we quote.
  • Soft or organic soil comes out. We do not pave over mud.
  • Crushed rock base is placed and compacted in lifts, with depth matched to the traffic it will carry.
  • Hot-mix asphalt is placed at the right thickness and rolled while it is hot enough to compact.
  • Edges are finished, slopes are set to drain, and the work area is cleaned up.

Pricing

Every estimate is written and itemized: excavation, base, asphalt, any drainage work and extras listed separately. Work begins only after you approve it, and changes are agreed in writing. We schedule paving in dry weather, which in the valley usually means late spring through early fall, and we will tell you honestly when a job should wait.
